How Many Days Do You Need in Mendoza?

June 7, 2026

It’s the first question everyone asks, and the hardest one to answer with a number. How many days you need in Mendoza depends less on the calendar than on what you want out of the trip. A wine getaway doesn’t need the same time as a trip that combines the Andes, serious food, and real rest. This is our take, after years of planning custom trips.

Three Days: The Essentials

It’s the minimum to leave feeling you were really here, not just passing through. It’s enough for two regions, for example Luján de Cuyo, the home of Malbec, and Maipú, more classic and close to the city, with a couple of wineries a day and a long lunch among the vineyards. It’s a full schedule, but it works.

Four to Five Days: The Sweet Spot

This is when Mendoza really opens up. You add the Uco Valley, with its altitude, architecture, and cult wines, without rushing, and you still have a day for a High Andes day trip or for nothing more than a sunset among the vineyards. It’s the range where the trip stops being a checklist and finds its own pace.

A Week: No Rush

If you can, stay. A week lets you alternate winery days with rest days, spend a night or two at a winery lodge surrounded by vines, and leave room for the unplanned: the lunch that runs into sunset, the winery that wasn’t on the list. The best stories usually happen on the days that weren’t fully booked.

When to Go

Each season shows you a different Mendoza. Harvest (February and March) is full of energy: the grapes are coming in, the air smells of fermenting must, and every winery is busy. Fall turns the vineyards red and gold, with warm days and cool nights. Winter brings snow to the Andes and dimly lit cellars. Spring brings budbreak and fresh green leaves. There’s no bad time to go, just a better one for you.
